14/08/06 - Album Review: Melinda Schneider - Stronger

By Larry Cann - Programmer & Breakfast Announcer - KIX FM

Since releasing her first album, My Oxygen in 2000, Melinda Schneider has continued to grow as an artist, performer and songwriter. Her later releases, Happy Tears and Family Tree have helped establish her as one of Australia’s favourite ladies of country music.

Now with several Golden Guitar awards under her belt, her latest collection of songs further enhances her footprint in the Australian country music market.

This new album, titled Stronger was released on August 5 and is her fourth on the Compass Bros label. It features beautiful ballads such as The Letting Go and the title track Stronger alongside a bunch of carefree and fun tracks such as the first single, Big World, Small World.

Melinda always sings about her feelings and emotions the subject matter generally centres around the topics of love, lost love and and being a strong woman in this big crazy world.

Of the 13 tracks on the album, my favourites include Big World, Small World, That Was The Plan, Stronger, Men In Trucks, and the robust Sometimes It Takes Balls To Be A Woman.

The album is in stores now.
